Recognised as the World’s Best Airport Hotel by Business Traveller Magazine for nine years running, this hotel is directly connected to the passenger terminal of the International airport, just a short three minute walk away.

We had done a tonne of walking and it was late so it came as a big relief to have this hotel just in front of us as we hopped off the train at the airport station.  And just as we arrived from inside the station, we left the following day from an indoor walkway that led to the terminal.  We therefore didn’t actually see our hotel from the outside.  Hence, the need to use the hotel’s photo of the outside of the building.

The foyer was very fancy and again we were feeling pretty excited about our choice of hotel.  It was hard to believe we were staying at a place like this for less than $150 for our family of four.  We were given a room on the 8th floor which was the top floor of the hotel.

Once we entered our room, it became clear why we weren’t being charged double or treble the price we would have expected.  The room was dated and in much need of a renovation.  It was such a pity as the rest of the hotel looked amazing.  Unfortunately the toilet had not been cleaned properly either so we had to arrange for someone to come up and clean it.  We later received feedback that they were about to commence renovation on the rooms.  I’m not sure if this has happened yet or not.

We love watching aircraft coming in and taking off when we’re at an airport hotel and this time was no exception.  With it being such a busy airport, we got to see lots of activity in the air.  The extra glazing on the windows did a great job at blocking out the noise.

Unfortunately with a flight out the next morning, and not wanting to pack wet swim suits, we didn’t get the opportunity to swim in either of the hotel’s two pools.  The outside one below looked pretty amazing too.  There was also an indoor pool and a fitness centre.  The hotel does spa treatments which again we didn’t try.

Pros:

The location to the airport is extremely convenient

Loved the look of the public spaces of the hotel

Very well priced

Cons:

Rooms dated and in need of renovating

poor attention to cleanliness

In Summary: Once they finish the renovations to the rooms, I would highly recommend this hotel if you have a flight out the following day.  It made access to the airport so quick and convenient.
