Hobart Airport Tourist Park, Cambridge, Tasmania, Australia Accommodation review – September 2014

We chose to stay the week in Hobart in a cabin which not only kept the cost down but meant the in-laws who were travelling with us could stay in one next door which made seeing each other nice and convenient.  The cabin was located close to the airport although there was not a lot of air traffic and the windows were double glazed so it was never a problem. The Tourist Park was also close to some tourist attractions such as MONA and the Botanical Gardens and it didn’t take long to reach others.  The cabin was quite large and well equipped although it did have a bit of a stale smell to it which mostly went after airing the room.  Our daughters had a separate bedroom which contained two single beds which is always a bonus and saves arguments if sleeping in bunks or sharing a double or queen bed.

Pros

Cheap at $140/night for four people in school holiday time

Fully equipped kitchen means you can cook some meals and not have to eat out all the time

Single beds for the children instead of bunks was most appreciated

Conveniently located close to airport if you are flying in or out

Cons

Located near the airport, it is a bit further away from Hobart city and some attractions

Laundry costs expensive compared to other places we’ve stayed

The park lacks amenities (particularly for children) such as organised activities, playgrounds etc.

In Summary

We found this place for the school holidays to be pretty good value and the two single beds for the kids were a preferable option to bunk beds.  It was just a shame the park was lacking in things for kids to do.
