Embassy Suites by Hilton Arcadia, Pasadena Area, California, USA review – May 2009

Embassy Suites by Hilton, Arcadia, California

The Embassy Suites in Arcadia are located in a quiet and attractive part of Los Angeles county, close to Monrovia and Pasadena. Santa Anita shopping mall is just up the road and the Botanic Gardens and Arboretum are both nearby.

Inside, the resort is full of palms and other plants as well as water features with colourful fish .  There are even plants hanging over the balconies giving the place an attractive and tropical feel.

A hot buffet breakfast was offered complimentary each morning and came with a good selection of food.  It was the first time I had seen American bacon, bagels and donuts on offer for breakfast.

The staff were really lovely and nothing was too much trouble.  The kids loved the mickey mouse pancakes with eggs, american bacon and proper maple syrup.  Each evening the Embassy Suites served complimentary drinks and nibbles.  It was a nice touch and we made the most of it when we could.  The Girls loved the imitation cherries the staff would put in their drinks to make them look fancy.

The rooms were spacious and having a living room with a kitchenette made our stay more comfortable and economical as we could prepare some of our own food.  With two children the second sink also came in handy.  The staff ran a complimentary shuttle bus to the shopping centre which we didn’t find out about until the end of our stay.  It was a decent sized walk but we enjoyed it, passing squirrels on our way and playing with the cotton-like seeds that had fallen from the trees.

Pros:

  • Great complimentary breakfast with a good range of food
  • Nice location
  • The extra sink in the bedroom area was a good idea
  • Complimentary drinks and nibbles each afternoon

Cons:

  • I can’t think of any from our time there but there have been comments suggesting the rooms (particularly the bathrooms) are becoming a bit dated.

In Summary: We really enjoyed staying at these suites and felt very safe in the area.  The living room with it’s kitchenette was great as too were the breakfasts each morning.
