We were here in Byron Bay to celebrate hubby’s Birthday before heading off to the Gold Coast to continue the rest of our week away.  We loved this adorable Guest House and can’t wait to one day return.

We paid $610 with Booking.com for three nights.  A continental breakfast is included in the rate.

Located a ten minute walk from Tallows Beach or a 20 minute walk from the town centre and Main Beach, this adults only boutique retreat is located away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre of Byron Bay.  It’s about a 50 minute drive from Coolangatta Airport at the Gold Coast or about a 30 minute drive from Ballina Airport.

Check-in/Check-out

  • Check-in 2pm to 9pm
  • Check-out 10:30am
  • We were sent a friendly text prior to turning up letting us know what room we were in and that our key was in our door.  Upon check-out we were asked just to leave the key in the door.  As we had booked and paid through a third party there was no paperwork or bills to settle.
Check-in and check The office setup where check-in and check-out presumably can also take place.

Parking

  • Complimentary parking is available on site.  We made the most of this leaving our car parked here on a number of occasions and walking into town or the beach as there is little free parking in Byron Bay.

  • A work desk with two chairs
  • An armchair and decorative ladder you can use to hang things on

  • Lush attractive gardens

Breakfast

As well as the yoghurt and muesli in your room, the shared lounge and kitchen area contained a coffee machine for making a selection of different strength coffees, tea making facilities, assorted fresh fruit, bread, muffins etc and spreads and a baked item.  We had cake and brownies whilst we were there and they were both delicious.  There is also seating outside where you can sit and eat your breakfast.

Things to do in the Area

Byron Bay is a popular tourist destination known for it’s hippy vibe, sandy beaches, great surfing and chilled atmosphere.  Here are a few suggestions of things we did and enjoyed in the three days we were there.

  • Grab a bite to eat and a drink from one of the many vibrant places in town.  We had good food at Miss Margarita (Mexican), The Cyprus Tree (Mediterranean), the bakery at Suffolk Park (amazing almond croissants), Fishheads (Seafood by the water), and In the Pink (Gelato).

  • The Cape Byron walking track – this takes you up to the top of the Cape Byron Lighthouse which has great views and allows you to even do some dolphin and whale spotting (season permitting).  You also pass the most easterly point of Australia.  The walk requires some level of fitness as it is a bit steep in parts.  There are a number of places you can start the walk depending on how long you want it to be.  We left on foot from the Guest House along the beach and came back via the town.

  • Spend time at one of Byron Bay’s beautiful beaches

  • Do a day trip into Ballina and be sure not to miss the nine metre high Big Prawn across from the Bunnings carpark.

Pros

  • The room we stayed in was incredibly cute.  It felt like it had also been recently renovated and was kept very clean.
  • An adults only Guesthouse which could be a con if you have children with you
  • Very friendly staff who are happy to chat with you
  • I really liked having the mini fridge topped up each day with milk, yoghurt and chocolate bars.
  • With only 7 rooms it felt more personal and it was nice meeting and getting to know some of the other guests who had come from all over the place.
  • The pool looked inviting and would be nice in summer
  • The gardens were very attractive
  • Away from the town centre and noise from the people and the music

Cons

  • The water in the pool wasn’t heated so unfortunately we didn’t get the chance to enjoy it.
  • There was no juice on offer for breakfast in the kitchen/dining area
  • With the Guest House located alongside a busy road, there was a bit of noise coming from cars going past but we didn’t find it a problem.

Summary

I highly recommend this place and look forward to returning when we next visit Byron Bay.
