We were passing through Grafton on the way up to Queensland and needed somewhere cheap and cheerful to stay the night before continuing our drive first thing the following morning. The Grafton Lodge Motel fitted the bill nicely and on hearing about our ordeal getting there, the lovely owner upgraded us to a Queen suite. The highway had been blocked due to the bushfires so we were forced onto a narrow back road that not only added a fair bit of time to our trip, but was quite scary to drive on.

You will find Grafton Lodge Motel located in the centre of the beautiful Clarence Valley in northern New South Wales on the Pacific Highway, seven hours north of Sydney and four hours south of Brisbane. Located just a 5 minute drive from the town centre and a 2 minute drive from the South Grafton Railway station, Grafton Lodge Motel is conveniently situated. The hotel is ten minutes away from the airport and the regional gallery with Coffs Harbour an hour’s drive away.

- Close to the highway and train station so if you were staying in one of the rooms closer to the road you could find it a bit noisy.
- No restaurant
Summary
In terms of what we needed, this place was more than suitable. It would have been nice to have more time so we could enjoy the attractive outdoor areas and the pool but hopefully next time. The lady was really friendly and it was obvious the owners had put a lot of effort into trying to make the place as comfortable and appealing as possible. I would happily stay here again if I found myself in Grafton.
