Villa 360, Phi Phi Island, Thailand Accommodation review – January 2011

Villa 360, Phi Phi Island, Thailand

Villa 360 is built into the side of the hill.  To get here, we caught the resort’s speedboat from over at the Pier at Ton Sai Bay at Phi Phi Village.  They were late coming to collect us and the ride to the resort was noisy, rough and smelt of petrol fumes.  The water must have been too shallow for the boat to pull up to the shore so we waded in water up to our knees for a few metres until we reached the sand.  Fortunately staff carried our luggage for us across the sea and up the long flight of stairs to the lobby.  There we were given a refreshing drink and cold towel whilst they checked our passports and completed the check-in process..

The resort has just 33 villas, all with panoramic views of the Andaman Sea.  The room contained the typical inclusions of a resort such as a fridge, mini bar, verandah, massage centre and gym as well as some more upmarket inclusions such as a bathtub with views from the window above, a king sized bed with 300 thread Egyptian linen and an infinity pool.

Meals were served at the restaurant at the top of the hill offering stunning views across the Andaman Sea.  Probably the best views we had ever experienced whilst eating dinner or breakfast.

The food was tasty, the views spectacular and the company just right.  It was perfect!  However to further enhance the atmosphere there was a man singing and playing his guitar.

enjoying the live music, good food and magnificent views

The food was fairly expensive although not really when you take into account the amazing views.  You could walk across the nearby street to buy cheaper food but could only do this at low tide.

On leaving we were charged for something from the mini bar that we didn’t use and it took a while sorting that out.

Pros

  • The best views ever, especially whilst dining at their restaurant on top of the hill
  • The beach was lovely to walk along
  • The small gift you got at the end of your stay was a nice touch

Cons

  • Food is expensive and because of the resort’s location, it can be hard to access food outside the resort

The walk from the beach up to the resort could be a problem for some people

In Summary: I would want to go back simply for the views and ambience of the restaurant at the top of the hill.  Unfortunately, there have been several comments about the resort’s lack of maintenance in recent times.
