Dewa Phuket Resort Nai Yang Beach, Nai Yang, Thailand accommodation review – December 2010

Dewa Phuket Resort Nai Yang Beach, Thailand

The Dewa is located just five minutes from the airport beside Nai Yang Beach and 30 minutes from Phuket city.  The resort has a mix of pool villas and junior and family suites.  On arrival we were told we had been upgraded to a villa with a private plunge pool.  Things were off to a good start.  Designed using modern Sino-Portuguese architecture, we had about 130 square metres of indoor and outdoor living space.

The villa was spacious and there was a basket of tropical fruit inside.  A curtain enclosed the four poster bed in an attempt to keep mosquitoes out at night.  Staff would light the coils at night and with the natural mosquito oil they supplied, we didn’t find them to be much of a problem anyway.

The bathroom was located just outside the villa surrounded by gardens and private from other guests.  It was a novelty showering and bathing outside and one we quite enjoyed.

The private plunge pool was incredible and you could literally walk from inside the villa right into it.  We felt very spoilt indeed and had not stayed anywhere like this before.

Breakfast was served at The Lounge. Here you could choose to eat inside or outside where you could enjoy the view.  The menu was a la carte but I believe they now offer a buffet breakfast too.

breakfast was a la carte and delicious each time

The resort offered cooking classes which we signed up to.  To start with, we were taken to the wet market (Super Cheap) and shown around.  It was interesting seeing foods we don’t normally see here in Australia.  They had a wide range of fruits, vegetables, meats and spices.  It was then back to the resort to start cooking our three course meal.

After cooking each course we sat down and enjoyed our meal.  We were given a copy of the recipes to take home.

now to enjoy the fruits of our labour

Pros:

  • Beautiful new villas with private plunge pools
  • Close to the airport
  • Right across the road from Nai Yang beach
  • Well equipped with high speed internet, three swimming pools including a 25m lap pool and kids pool, bikes for hire, cooking school, gym, shops, library and kids club

Cons:

  • The resort is about 30 minutes out from Phuket city
  • The food at the resort is a bit expensive

In Summary:

  • We enjoyed our stay here immensely and would happily stay again.  The upgrade was a real bonus with having our own private pool.

Loved this post a lot about Thailand. I have lived around Phuket island many times. Really cool cafes, restaurants, and the seafood is exceptional, which I loved the most. Seen that a crocodile was captured near BangTao beach. A little worrying due to I used to live there, but still a great place to chill for a few months.

Thank you Gabriel. We love Thailand too which is why we keep coming back. This place was where we spent our first ever night in the country so we have special memories of it :-).
