Date: May 2002

Destination: Sydney to Nadi, Fiji return

Aircraft: Boeing 747-200

Flying time: Sydney to Nadi 3hrs 50mins|Nadi to Sydney 4hrs 45mins

This was the first time our two Girls had flown and our first overseas holiday as a family. Our youngest was not yet two so were interested to see how she would go with overseas travel. Unfortunately given the age of this review and the lack of photos there is little to share except that our experience with Air Pacific (now Fiji Airlines) was a positive one.  The staff were friendly and were especially good to the children.  I don’t remember there being any inboard entertainment – certainly no individual monitors anyway.  However it was a short flight and the girls had their dolls to keep them occupied when they weren’t napping.

We chose seats in the middle so we could all sit together although it meant we didn’t get much of a view outside.  The air temperature was a little on the cool side which made it even harder to adjust to Fiji’s heat and humidity once we arrived.

The kids did well on the flight and for a review on where we stayed click here.

Pros:

Friendly service

Inexpensive flights from Australia to Fiji

Cons:

  • Temperature was set a little low on the plane making it harder to adjust once we reached Fiji
  • No individual monitors for Entertainment although there’s a good chance the newer planes have this

In Summary:

I enjoyed our experience with this airline and the friendly smiles made it feel like you were in Fiji already.
