This hotel is one of the better airport hotels we’ve found in the US.  There is a free shuttle to and from the airport, the rooms are modern and breakfast, although not great, is complimentary.

View from the window

Our view from our window was different on each occasion.  The first time we looked out to snow on the ground which was exciting considering we rarely get to see snow.  The second time we looked out over the cute picturesque houses of Queens.

Pros

• Our hotel room was modern and clean
• Breakfast was complimentary with coffee that was actually drinkable
• The hotel has a large microwave and fridge
• Complimentary tea and coffee in the area across from Reception
• Complimentary shuttle makes getting to and from the airport easy
• Friendly staff
• On our first stay, staff asked us for feedback which I see is a really good sign of a hotel trying to improve and interested in what guests have to say.

Cons

• Breakfast was not good with little healthy options.  Food was low fat and high sugar
• The hotel was expensive
• The doona on the bed isn’t properly encased in a cover which isn’t very hygienic 

Summary

This is one of the better US airport hotels we’ve stayed in.  Conveniently situated just 2 miles from JFK airport, Residence Inn has a complimentary shuttle service to and from JFK airport.  They request you call them once your plane has arrived to arrange pick up to the hotel.  Rooms were modern and although breakfast is complimentary, the food was neither healthy nor tasty.  I thought the accommodation was expensive for a 3 star hotel but quite a bit nicer than some others we’ve stayed in.
