We decided to spend a couple of nights in LA on our way to New York after having just flown in to LAX from Melbourne, Australia. The Hyatt Regency was very close by and was a new airport hotel so we decided to stay there.
Address
6225 West Century Boulevard, Los Angeles, California, 90045, USA
Date stayed
Wednesday 23rd March 2022 for two nights
Room Type
Queen room
Price
We booked direct through the hotel and paid 230.24 USD for the first night and 249.90 USD for the second night which came to 480.14 USD for both nights or 660 AUD after the international transaction fee had been applied by our bank. Fairly expensive for an airport hotel however it was new and it was also nice.
Location
Just a short walk and one block away from LAX adjacent to Terminal 1, the Hyatt Regency Los Angeles International Airport was the closest hotel to the airport, convenient after getting off a 14 hour flight. The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle that goes to and from the airport which we waited about 20 minutes for. Being situated in Southern California, it is close to attractions like Disneyland, Malibu, Hollywood and Beverly Hills.

Breakfast
Breakfast can be eaten at the unity LA restaurant inside the hotel or room service is also available. We didn’t eat here so I can’t comment on the food but the prices are on the high side. I notice the hotel advertises 50 USD credits towards food but we weren’t told about that when we checked in.
Things to do in the Area
As we turned up at night on our first night and left very early on our second morning, we only had one day to spend in LA. It was a beautiful sunny day so we decided to go to Santa Monica. It’s about a half an hour drive but we thought we would walk some of the way giving us a chance to see a bit of LA by foot and also reduce the cost of the Uber fare. We walked along the pier at Santa Monica, trying Japanese hot dogs and funnel cakes whilst listening to buskers and simply taking in the sights and the sounds. We walked along the beach where there seemed to be miles of shops and stopped off at a beachside cafe for a cold drink. After a ride on the Ferris wheel we had dinner at Forrest Gump which rounded off an enjoyable day.
Pros
- New modern hotel with large attractive foyer and large guest-rooms
- The fruit infused water dispenser in the lobby was a great idea and was very refreshing.
- Close to JFK airport
- Heated swimming pool
- A good view of the airport from our room
Cons
- A bit expensive for an airport hotel
- Not told about the food credit advertised on the hotel’s website
Summary
The Hyatt Regency International Airport Hotel is very conveniently located to LAX. I liked that it was new, modern and had large rooms as well as a heated outdoor swimming pool. I would happily stay here again if I needed to be close to the airport but would make sure I asked about the food credit next time as well as book earlier to ensure a better rate.
