Although no longer a B&B, this 1875 Queenscliff guest house has a tonne of character and old world charm. Formerly a green grocer and then the Seaview Coffee Palace, it was later converted to a Guest House with fourteen guest rooms each individually unique from each other.
The rooms all have their own ensuite and tea and coffee making facilities (including biscuits) along with TV and Wifi. We were towards the back of the building so road noise was not a problem. The shower was a good size and the bathroom and bedroom were clean.
The Guest House has two lounge rooms, one upstairs with a verandah and a bigger one downstairs with an open fireplace and Foxtel TV. There is also filtered water, a fridge and a microwave. Plenty of lounges, a bookshelf full of books and a table to eat at made the place feel very homely.
Downstairs was the restaurant that opened for lunch and dinner. We didn’t eat here as we were only staying one night and were keen to try the fish and chips down the road. It looked nice so we’ll have to dine there next time we find ourselves staying in Queenscliff.
In Summary: A lovely old guest house with a lot of character and well priced. The staff are friendly too.
Pros
Great location
A lot more interesting than the typical modern hotel
Friendly staff
Cons
The stairs up to the rooms could be problematic for some people
The room had a musty smell mixed with the scent of camphor and eucalyptus. Opening the window helped to clear the air.
