Now this resort stands out as something really special and is probably the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in. Indigo Pearl was renamed The Slate in 2016. They have won a number of well deserved awards over the years including winner of the best luxury beach resort in Thailand and winner of Asia’s leading design hotel. And it was not hard to see why. The resort offers beautiful adorned rooms, eight restaurants and bars, three swimming pools, tennis courts, a private beach club, a kids club, an award winning spa and a cooking school. The food at the Black Ginger restaurant was amazing and the buffet breakfast was first class.
We stayed in the D-Buk suite which was large (76 square metres) and very tastefully decorated in hardwoods and iron (as an ode to it’s tin mining days). Our Girls loved having a bubble bath in the wrought iron bathtub which stood in the middle of the room.
The family pool was massive and they happened to be doing water zorbing the first time we went down. As the Girls had never done it before, they were keen to give it a go. They literally had a ball!
The resort is right on the beach and has its own section of the beach just for its guests with sun chairs all laid out. Nai Yang Beach has a number of small shops and food places along the beach and on our way out we noticed a market.
Pros
- Beautiful architecturally designed resort
- Great food
- Three swimming pools including adults only
- Large rooms
- Easy access to the airport
- Right on the beach
Cons
- Expensive
- A bit out of the way from the rest of Phuket
In summary: A beautiful and aesthetically pleasing resort that truly deserves its five star rating
